Folding fan with double fabric pleated leaf. Cream color silk front leaf has a hand painted floral border enhanced with embroidered flowers. Bone sticks and guards are incised and pierced; cut away negative spaces form positive shapes of flowers and birds, which are hand painted. On the sticks, the cut away spaces surrounding the birds are backed with thin pieces of translucent iridescent mother of pearl. The rivet has mother of pearl buttons and a plain metal loop.
