The U.S. Response to Throwaway Children: From Orphan Trains to the Current Migrant Crisis

The  Field Center for Children's Policy, Practice & Research is hosting a community symposium which explores how Orphan Train provides a historical context for today’s social, moral, and legal crisis created by large numbers of unaccompanied migrant children arriving at U.S. borders. The symposium will feature three of the nation’s leading experts on this topic: Chris James-Brown, CEO of Child Welfare League of America; Cindy Connolly, Associate Professor of Nursing at the University of Pennsylvania and Field Center Faculty Director; and Howard Davidson, Director of the American Bar Association’s Center on Children and the Law. This symposium is free and open to the public; however pre-registration is required. For more information, visit www.fieldcenteratpenn.org.
