Description:
Folding fan with single fabric pleated leaf. Black silk leaf front is hand painted with pink and white flowers and a blue bird. The outer edge of the leaf is edged with metallic gold foil. The bamboo sticks are pierced; the plain bamboo guards are painted black. The metal loop at the rivet holds two red tassels on a knotted cord. The back of the front (right) guard is stamped JAPAN.
