Charles
E. Peterson Fellowship of the Buildings of the United States and the
Athenaeum of Philadelphia
At
its latest Annual Meeting the Society of Architectural Historians awarded
graduate student Tonia Sing Chi the annual competitive Charles E. Peterson
Fellowship of the Buildings of the United States. Ms. Chi will be
researching and writing two pre-1860 buildings entries for New York State
for SAH Archipedia, working with Prof. David Salomon of Ithaca College,
who is the coordinator for the NY state entries for SAH. Tonia Sing Chi is
a graduate student studying Architecture & Design at Columbia
University in New York City. Dr. Tatman serves on the committee which
chooses the recipient of the award each year. Charles E. Peterson was very
active in the Society of Architectural Historians and was instrumental in
establishing the Philadelphia Chapter, which first met at the Athenaeum in
1964, with a program honoring the recently deceased Harold Donaldson.
James Dallett spoke at that program as did Charles E. Peterson who
lectured on "The Monumental Patrimony: Some Observations on the
Second International Congress for Architects and Technicians of Historic
Monuments."
